happy first birthday to Bluesky, and what a year it's been!

with every day, the need for an open network that puts people first becomes increasingly clear. we're glad to be building this with you. after all, the heart of a social network is the people.

cannot be said enough that for a decade a critical number of americans have simply refused to accept that he means what he says
I hold a lot of disdain for the people who didn’t see this coming given P2025 but it does seem like the actual support for these goals is nonexistent, everyone who voted for him did so under the incredibly stupid assumption that he wouldn’t do this

Don’t quit your hobbies even if you never make any money with them. The joy you get from writing songs because they’re inside you is worth experiencing even if you never get onstage.

The truth *cannot* win in this kind of media environment. People can’t and won’t access the truth, and they use whatever kernels they get to reinforce their existing biases and narratives. Stuff like this shows me just how doomed we truly are
The other thing that disgusts me about the Blake Lively/Justin Baldoni thing is that masses of people reacting online aren’t reading the NYT article. They’re reading the TMZ article. They don’t even know the facts, and the ones they do know are just making it worse for her.

Wait, being a trad wife with the explicit role of doing all the housework isn’t just baking and fun? It also involves wiping up piss and shit? And caring for seven children that your husband doesn’t want to help with? Damn. If only everyone already knew that except rubes falling for TikTok trends.

David Zaslav, like so many other execs in creative industries and beyond, can’t imagine that something can be thriving and essential if it’s not growing exponentially forever.
