Decided to take one last trip of the year to the north woods and the big lake before I have to be back on campus for the year and in the stacks full time.
Feels very surreal in certain ways to be so remote knowing the country is falling to fascists.

Someone asked so I'll share that I've been reading a lot about Vichy France (The Collaborator by Kaplan is a very good starting place) and US Reconstruction (Black Reconstruction in America by DuBois is an excellent primer) when I think about future work. Too early in my Brazil studies to rec.
It's not time to be hopeless, but it's not time to wait for midterms to magically fix it. That's lost. It's going to be post World War II institution building kind of work. Eparution legale kind of work.
