Cancelled my #Spotify account after using it daily for almost 10 years because they refuse to stop posting 🧊 ads. If they can choose to ignore ethics and human decency bc it "doesn't violate their terms of service", I can choose not to give them my money.

What the Debate Me bros have done is found a way to filibuster the self-evident humanity of a person or group by making it an endless topic of debate.

As Toni said: "None of this is necessary. There will always be one more thing."

It's not my job to prove my equality to those who think me inferior
The NCGOP will lie right to your face and say they believe in equal rights while actively undermining basic civil rights. Debating them is like playing make-believe. #ncpol

@friede.bsky.social Doing some reflection on terminology, I feel like the word "modules" is very D&D coded compared to "scenarios", or at least as someone primarily involved in horror TTRPGs, I primarily hear "scenarios" being used. Are there any resources you're aware of about this split or usage?

This was a great talk to attend, and I highly recommend giving it a watch/listen. I hope you get to feeling better soon @sarahgailey.bsky.social! 💖
I got to deliver a talk on the history and legacy of the Hays Code and the Comics Code, contemporary censorship efforts, and the necessity of identifying with criminality. You can watch and read the whole thing here:

Teaching AI literacy.

(GenAI is wrong A LOT. And even though people tend to think it saves time, we now have randomized controlled trials that show situations where it takes *more* time even when participants self-report it's saving them time.)

I've seen some talk about how we are witnessing the end of the professoriate as we know it and this may be true, but I think it's bigger: it's the decimation of the mission-oriented profession.

Want to make a middle-class living serving the public good? Capitalism doesn't want that for you.

Mulling on gen AI and is this the first example of the Diffusion of Innovations theory bell curve reversing on itself? Many early adopters seemingly realized its capped potential & dangers as the diffusion passed into the "late majority" phase while the tech is blindly fueled by capitalist greed

I'm an "A.i." abolitionist.

No consumer-facing LLMs or generative "A.i." in anything.

Sure, machine learning in science and a few other limited applications is fine.

But consumer-facing LLMs and generative "A.i." that are based on theft, push disinfo, and can be manipulated by billionaires?

No.

There should be a personality test based around how many of X items you would pack for a Y day trip.

Q: You are going out of town for a 2 night driving trip. How many books should you pack?

A. 0, I have my phone

B. 1, I might be able to finish it in that time

C. At least 3, plus my eReader

This is 100% my philosophy too.

I'll always prefer to make weird stuff I love, for a small group of weirdos, over twisting me and my work into unnatural shapes for mass appeal.

You really don't need millions of followers to make a living as a creative, just like ~500-1000 folk who always show up.
these two posts have been my guiding star as far as audience size:
