ANES Data Release! electionstudies.org/data-center/...

The 3-wave ANES panel is now available. It merges data from 3 election studies (2016-2020-2024), the first time the ANES has collected interviews of the same respondents across 3 presidential elections.

🎶 💜🤍💛
But then suddenly we felt it
Like a mighty cannon blast
Every cost and battle lost of every generation past
So we rose up in defiance
Yes, we chose to risk it all
For our sisters' silent voices
Let the patriarchy fall

It flies under the radar because it is overwhelmed by the sheer repulsiveness of the physical destruction of the east wing, but there is no way that a president should be allowed to use private money to change public property. It circumvents the power of the purse.

this piece from @whyy.org is great

I know some people think "it is what it is" is a thought-terminating cliche or whatever, but it's getting me through job market season day by day 🤷‍♀️

I've been banging this drum for the past four months or so: DOGE and Russ Vought broke the appropriations process. What's the point of going through the arduous process of crafting 12 spending bills, clearing them through committee and getting them through two chambers if Trump does rescissions?
If appropriations bills are not seen as enforceable contracts, why should any Member of Congress vote to fund any part of the federal government under Donald Trump? You're voting to provide money for lawlessness. www.doomsdayscenario.co/p/there-is-n...
There is no budget "deal" to be made
President Trump has so broken the constitutional framework as to make joint normal, responsible government impossible.

A great day of sorrow for our faith after our President dies and a church building full of our brothers and sisters in Michigan was attacked by a gunman/arsonist. Please keep the victims and families in your thoughts and prayers at this time.

🚨 New paper in @thejop.bsky.social

Why do politicians often misperceive what citizens' policy positions are?

@simonotjes.bsky.social and I study ~10,000 estimates of public opinion by politicians in Denmark & the Netherlands to uncover the sources of these (mis)perceptions

to put an even finer point on it: the percentage of U.S. adults who say they “strongly disapprove” of Trump‘s job as president (about 46-50% of adults) is significantly higher than the percent of adults who voted for him (about 32% of adults)
genuinely believe that a large number of political, economic and media elites do not realize that nearly half the voting public did not vote for trump
currently at record-high search interest for canceling disney plus. pulling kimmel is a bigger deal to the company's bottom line than any of the "woke" scandals of the past 5 years. i think news & entertainment corp execs need put more work into understanding their audience, & get off twitter

This is absolute nonsense. First of all, VCs don't do survey-based statistical sampling on this scale, where the error is somewhat inherent. Second, modeling errors on a much larger scale are a common and accepted risk in VC.

RFK Jr talking about the need for doctors to know how to treat measles for those who are unvaccinated.

“Only very sick kids should die from measles.”

No. They shouldn’t. That was the point of the vaccine. We eradicated the virus so children didn’t die.

Sick & disabled kids are not expendable!

A colleague at Stanford’s business school used The Stanford Daily to argue—poorly—against DEI. The piece was riddled with historical errors and left one searching for fact, so I broke my public writing hiatus to respond.

I hope you’ll read and share the piece.

What DEI threatens isn’t merit. It’s monopoly.
Political science professor Hakeem Jefferson argues for DEI's importance to de-monopolizing universities.
