The League of Women Voters of San Francisco is a grassroots, member-led nonprofit that empowers voters and defends democracy. Nonpartisan yet political. lwvsf.org
Building a sandwich is a lot like building democracy. Each ingredient matters, and the result is something greater than the sum of its parts. Done right, the whole thing holds together — even if it gets thrown around.

It's no surprise that League members loved Suffs 💜🤍💛

Outstanding piece with compelling visualizations. Lee is right--partisan calcification is an authoritarian's dream! We need more dimensions to our political conflict.
I jump into the moderation debate. I agree with @adambonica.bsky.social and @gelliottmorris.com on the methodology, but I want to draw attention to a bigger issue. The collapse of candidate effects generally.

Voting is power and visibility. Even as trans people face threats and violence on the streets and in the halls of government, they’re speaking up, voting, and leading. This #TransgenderAwarenessMonth, we want to amplify that San Francisco is an awesome city because of its transgender community 🩵🩷🤍🩷🩵

It's #VoteEarlyDay! 🥳 San Francisco is so awesome that you've been able to return your election ballot for a couple of weeks already! (you cast yours, right? riiiiiiight?)

But tbh, the number of people who have returned their ballot return envelope without a signature is a big bummer.

White and higher-income voters tend to be overrepresented in off-year elections, giving them outsized influence on local governments. This November, New Yorkers will weigh in on a reform that's meant to confront that.

But then suddenly we felt it
Like a mighty cannon blast
Every cost and battle lost of every generation past
So we rose up in defiance
Yes, we chose to risk it all
For our sisters' silent voices
Let the patriarchy fall
