Today the cult leaders will claim to have figured out the cause of autism, and it'll be acetaminophen (Tylenol).

Here's an enormous study on this very correlation with stringent methodology and a sample size of 2.4 million children.

Paracetamol (Tylenol) does not cause autism, and it is a source of great dismay that autism researchers and Autistic advocates still have to spend so much time battling misinformation.

Research on causes of autism systematically fails to control for the existence and behaviour of Autistic parents.

Reform will apparently pledge today that they'd abolish indefinite leave to remain - including retrospectively, to people already granted it. Obviously this is a moral abomination but it is also a practical and legal impossibility.

I’m seeing even well-meaning accounts criticise disability cuts as hitting “the most vulnerable.” Reminder: disabled people are not inherently vulnerable. We are vulnerable when governments choose to withhold the resources disabled people need to live dignified and secure lives.

Alongside a mandate that promises a reduction in health inequalities and a move to prevention rather than treatment, this makes no sense.
Shocking that NHS planning guidance removes targets for Annual Learning Disability Health Checks

It’s hard enough to convince GPs to do these in many localities, let alone removing targets and accountability

@rthonwesstreeting.bsky.social this is the wrong move

Toxic positivity is pressuring people to look on the bright side. They have to suppress anxiety, anger, sadness, and grief.

Healthy support is shielding people from the dark side. You invite them to express their pain, and show them they're not alone and won't feel it forever.
