I wonder how many more people (and possibly organisations) ought to be added to the @amase.org.uk Autistic Scotland starter pack?

Welfare cuts have fuelled rise of far right and populism, top UN expert says.

Adds that the rise of parties like Nigel Farage’s Reform party is “completely terrifying”.

Yet no end to real wage/benefit cuts; no curbs on profiteering; little redistribution.

A whole series of studies of the research priorities of Autistic people have broadly reached this same conclusion.

Interestingly, studies involving our family members also come out strongly in favour of research aimed at improving our wellbeing.
How can autistic adults thrive in life?

This should be at the heart of autism researchers, not what causes autism.

But instead.. 2025.. and I still keep seeing all the same things that's labeled as negative or a barrier from these researchers, that is disappointing to say the least.

Come on now.

Recommend this (free) event.

I came across Estas some time ago through a document they submitted to the UN Committee for the Rights of the People with Disabilities. It seems like an interesting self-advocacy group, though I couldn't find much info about it at the time.

For a while yesterday, Luma was saying the event is sold out, but we have now corrected this - there is plenty of space, both online and in person!

As a Scottish organisation, it would be nice if we didn't have to worry about what the President and Health Secretary of the USA say, but unfortunately, autism misinformation affects all of us.

When parents get info about their autistic kids from the autistic and disability communities, they will find people who think that their kids are awesome, and want their parents to feel the same way.

They will NOT find this love via #ProfoundAutism groups.

On the 24th, I had the opportunity to present the findings of a survey on autism assessment experiences—a vital research piece that brought together Scottish Autism, ARGH, AMASE, and SEMA.

Although the research was conducted in 2023, the situation has actually declined for Autistics in Scotland.

Paracetamol (Tylenol) does not cause autism, and it is a source of great dismay that autism researchers and Autistic advocates still have to spend so much time battling misinformation.

Research on causes of autism systematically fails to control for the existence and behaviour of Autistic parents.

Excited to finally be able to share these animations I’ve been working on with @fergus.oolong.co.uk , @iara-abigalil.bsky.social , @autisticrealms.bsky.social and other team members not on here. Particularly pleased to get my favourite image that I use of “thinking in constellations” in there ✨
The other animation is Lightbulb Moments: Being Autistic.

So much about Autistic experience is still missing from most professional accounts, which have been formulated from the outside.

Many people talk about all these little epiphanies: 'I thought it was just me!'
