Look at this list. How many of the names do you recognize besides Michael Phelps? These are all outrageous athletes and are mostly unknown.

How delightfully quaint some of these old Devon village names are, their etymologies lost in the mists of time.

Lovely autumnal walk around Grinshill / Corbett Wood. We saw a very rare thing, a continues stream of water running down a hill where there's no streams. Guessing water had collected after Storm Claudia in sandstone. #Shropshire

Shropshire Hills Sunday … back up on a very wet and soggy Long Mynd at last. We were hoping for more blue skies but the autumn colours were still stunning. #Shropshire

OK, I've just been asked what I want for xmas 🙄 Whilst I struggle to come up with owt, I thought I'd give some suggestions of recent affordable things I've bought or been gifted in the last year or so.

First up, my #1 go-to birding gloves which are the best touchscreen gloves I have #BirdingGear
At £9.98 these CXW winter cycling gloves were my cheapest buy.
www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B...

Cheap they might be, and most of the textured grip has now worn off, but these are my #1 pair of birding gloves. They're so comfy, and warm enough for all bar the coldest birding days.
