“Tax wealth, not work” <<< YES
"The reason you are getting poor is because your wealth is being squeezed out by the rich and super rich. They are taking their wealth from you. You are unable to compete with them. The working class is being bankrupted. The middle class is disappearing. Tax wealth, not work."

I think we have to understand that the administration’s hostility to trans people is an attack on the freedom of all Americans to determine their own identities. If you care about your own freedom, you have an interest in making sure all Americans are treated with dignity and respect.

i am going to put a finer point on this: executive orders are not laws. and they certainly are not royal decrees. they are interpretations of existing law for the purposes of enforcement. the fact that so many people are treating them as laws is actually driving me a bit insane.
i mean, the president's executive order isn't a goddamn law! as far as this doctor is concerned, who cares what the president says!
A New York City doctor said he will continue providing gender-affirming treatments to his patients younger than 19 despite President Donald Trump’s executive order aiming to ban such care.

"The best and the worst thing about vaccination is that it 'makes nothing happen.'

A child successfully inoculated against measles doesn’t fall sick with that condition, doesn’t miss school, doesn’t go to the hospital. They don’t suffer life-changing complications. They don’t die prematurely."
A leading pediatrician was already worried about the future of vaccines. Then RFK Jr. came along
In a new book, pediatric infectious disease specialist Dr. Adam Ratner details the history of measles, a virus that’s often a bellwether for public health disasters.

I think it's important to say that these are not "budget cuts" at NIH and NSF. If they want to cut the next budget, they should talk to Congress. This is withholding money that's already authorized.

The NIH announced it will slash billions of dollars of support to universities and research centers.

This is one of the biggest attacks on science we have ever seen. It could dismantle the biomedical research system, shut down clinical trials, and halt development of treatments.

they are stealing data from the american people and depriving us of the transparency that we are entitled to by law. none of this is legal and not a single federal employee has any reason to comply.

A helpful thing to remember, or at least it has been for me: in hard times, there will be discrete moments—maybe lots of them—where you experience love and joy and community. It is no sin to enjoy them, and arguably more of one to refuse them.

I’ve been sick, and my co-parent legit picked up the slack so I could actually rest for 3 full days (with no school). This should be the rule, not the exception. Bonus points because he isn’t resentful, and I trusted he’d ask for any help he needed #parenting #equalpartnership #fairplay

Well this DOES make me feel better. It doesn’t mean there won’t be a fight, but I’ve been feeling confused about this all day.
I’m seeing a lot of confusion about the Equal Rights Amendment online.

I've been working on the ERA for 13 years & literally wrote a book about it.

So, let me help answer some questions.

1) Yes, it really is a real amendment & fully part of the U.S. Constitution. Full stop.

This piece from @olgakhazan.bsky.social hits at the core of the problem with self-help solutions to structural problems. They may help some people (usually the most privileged), but they leave anyone who's left struggling with only themselves to blame. 1/ 🧵

Me, a public health person, just sitting over here reflecting on the fact that the US has experienced a 7% increase in infant mortality post-Dobbs.

Like, do you realize what that says about this society from an ethical perspective? That we made policy choices that caused this?

If you want to talk about health issues related to poor diet, you can’t to omit the fact that:

90% of Americans don’t eat enough fruits, vegetables, & fiber.
THAT is a far bigger factor than any single food ingredient or food type.

Why don’t people eat enough produce?

It’s the time of year when society wants you to make resolutions, usually about your body. Here are my suggestions:

Dress your body in outfits that make you happy.

Feed your body nourishing foods that are delicious.

Use your body to do fun stuff, like dancing, making things, or walking dogs.

No. RFK Jr has dedicated the past two decades of his life to making it more likely that children will die of preventable illnesses.

The only "good stuff" he believes is that Americans should eat better and exercise more, something every institution of public health already promotes constantly.
Harris had an opportunity to appeal to the RFK voters who just want healthy food and she blew it.

By blowing RFK off entirely, it invited people to assume that Harris opposed RFK's entire agenda, even the good stuff.
