Publishers de-prioritizing children's books is just crappy, but it's also shortsighted financially:
1. Kidlit is recession-proof! Parents will always need to buy books for kids.
2. If you're not fostering the next generation of readers, then you won't have a consumer base 10-20 years from now.

Communities in LA have been organizing immigrant communities for months.
Mutual aid orgs mobilized massively in January after the fires.
The ingredients were all there.
