elected democrats who want their constituents to remain non-violent in their protests of these abuses must actually offer a path for ending the abuses non-violently. they currently are not as a party and it’s a major problem.
🚨WHOA. The El Paso Medical Examiner says it will rule the death of a 55-year-old Cuban man at ICE's "Camp East Montana" tent camp as a homicide.

He was allegedly choked to death by a guard during a "struggle" after he refused to enter a housing unit without his medications.

I'm sorry, Appeasement Democrats, but we already tried your way. Working to hide Trump's malfeasance from the public, sanding off as many rough edges as possible, working to avoid confrontation under the theory that he wants confrontation, then trying to move on as if it didn't happen failed. Badly.

ICE out now. Trump out now. More and more are saying it.
Once you accept that we'll have to make him leave in 2029 there's no reason not to make him leave today.

I would argue that the statement that Democrats are too "woke" elides the real issue: Democrats leaned into cultural strength because they knew the party didn't have the courage for outright rules-changing to benefit the party itself (which is what Republicans have done for decades)

4Runner gang 🫡
I have low standards for driver behavior, but even I wouldn't have guessed people would be so willing to drive their cars up on a sidewalk level bike lane, at full street speed, past pedestrians using the sidewalk as intended.

Civic education and especially the press in this country aren't great, but the big problem here is that the people acting like the president isn't a public servant tasked with faithfully executing the law, but instead The Country's Boss, includes the GOP majorities in Congress and the Supreme Court.
Not sure whose fault it is primarily that most people don't seem to know that the president is basically a manager whose job is to carry out the will of Congress, and not The Country's Boss
This “explicit” is a weird editorial choice. The constitution gives the president no power over this at all. It’s not ambiguous.

No way that the blind masseuse who showed up and started winning my rigged dice games could be connected to whoever is violently dismantling my criminal organization. He’s harmless.
I don’t think a wandering ronin would ever undermine my band of thugs that keeps a local community under our rhumb. Just don’t think it would happen to me.

I do find the old streetlights striking.

Great write up on some really annoying closures.

“But more than anything, transportation planners need to understand that transportation isn’t just about cars and drivers. Walking is transportation. Cycling is transportation. Non-motorists deserve safe routes, too.”

Damn right!

old Soviet joke for our times:

Guy stops by the newsstand every day, scans the front page, doesn’t buy the paper. One day the vendor asks what he’s up to.

Guy says: “looking for an obituary.”

Vendor says “those are towards the back of the paper, comrade.”

Guy says: “not the one I’m looking for.”
