I've been seeing a lot of deeply weird takes as of late from people i otherwise respect that seem to place anything that isn't "high art" as inherently worthless, problematic or immature, and this is profoundly odd to me, because these are entire art-forms that people commit to and pour their hearts

I dunno, maybe the quality of a work of fiction has a stronger relation to how the plot, themes and other elements are handled than if it conforms to a specific genre or not? there's plenty of badly done experimental/boundary-pushing stuff out there because sometimes a good idea is executed poorly,

While I think it’s important to show how moderation rules are clearly ignored when the targets of harassment are marginalized people and fight on this front, I think it’s clear that no form of moderation that’s impartial towards how oppression occurs in the real world will save us.
In the past month alone, over 12M people joined Bluesky, with daily active users growing 10x. We received more reports in two days than in all of last year, and have integrated new systems and quadrupled our moderation team to try and keep up. Sometimes, we have to work quickly to correct errors.
