none of them will read this of course, because i blocked every last one of them, but i feel it necessary to make my position on this matter abundantly clear in wake of these events. this is utterly unacceptable conduct, and i'm glad nobody of importance has stooped to this level of casual cruelty

so let me spell it out for them: participating in antisemitism is in fact bad, and it needs to be fought in left wing spaces where it appears, because if you can't empathise with entirely innocent victims of hatred, then that doesn't exactly say good things about you or your mates

and to the absolute geniuses from that comments section who said that antisemitism is on the rise as a result of Israel's actions: you're right! congratulations! the fact that this is obviously a bad thing that hurts people uninvolved with Israeli atrocities seems to have flown over their heads

there's a myriad of ways they could have done things that actually might have helped Palestinian lives, and they chose to do this instead

this is the first time i've seen *any* of these accounts, as well, so it looks like the way they decided to make themselves known is this. great decision making, guys.

an entirely reasonable post expressing concern for the victims of an obvious hate crime. thanks for doing the hasbara's work for them, assholes. ironic really, they use the same vile tactics as their enemies and think they're the good guys here

but Stalin was when the USSR was at its worst, by a wide margin, in terms of repression, in terms of social progress and in terms of mistreatment of marginalised groups in Soviet society. many of the awful things that would result from the soviet collapse have their roots in Stalin's actions.

I'm not particularity active on here, to be honest, but sometimes, stuff like this pops up. it seems profoundly strange to me that in this day and age, people would die on the hill of defending Stalin of all people. The USSR was never particularly good at living up to the ideals it espoused,

he also played a singificant role in enabling the monsterous actions of Lavrentiy Beria, who was only removed after stalin's death, and his failure to adequately prepare for operation barbarossa was a large part of why it reached so deep into soviet territory

He very much was not. under him, the social progress made in the early USSR re: women's rights and other areas was either cut back or destroyed, while all of the USSR's most destructive policies, such as the gulag system and broad state repression, were significantly hightened,
