I collect pictures of gate latches. The endless minute variations and human ingenuity appeal to me greatly, and the countless hands that have moved them. This one is between Near and Far Sawrey, Lake District and has a lovely combination of textures between the iron, wooden gate, and stone gatepost.

20 years ago today, a bomb exploded on a bus at Tavistock Square. I was there. This is what happened:
"You were only entitled to carpet if you were a certain grade so if they changed the grade of who occupied the office, the carpet would be ripped up, which left a mess" !!

End of an era as iconic Maryhill Wyndford high flats being demolished later today - I was lucky enough to get to see the view from the top of one back in 2013 when they were celebrating having just re-clad & insulated them all and connected them to a brand new district heating system.
