Every time living standards fall, Nigel Farage blames migration.

And every time, Keir Starmer nods along.

People are struggling with the cost of living and blaming migration won’t fix that.

Scotland deserves better - a fairer, wealthier, welcoming future with independence.
Mark your calendars.

I am proposing making Monday 15 June an extra bank holiday in Scotland, to mark our return to the World Cup after 28 years. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Statement on the ongoing situation in Venezuela.
January 5, 2026 at 2:28 PM
I am deeply concerned at the events we have witnessed unfold in Venezuela over the course of today.

The Maduro regime is without doubt illegitimate and authoritarian but it is absolutely essential that all nations act within the international rules based system. (1/2)

Last Saturday I spent time in A&E listening to staff and watching them deliver excellent care under pressure.

There are real challenges in our NHS, but also real progress - long waits coming down, more operations and more GPs.

I’m determined to build on this in 2026.

I’m in politics to raise people’s living standards, but in the UK, they’re flat as a pancake.

Scotland can do so much better with independence.

How we’re improving education in Scotland:

✅ Literacy and numeracy at record high
✅ Attendance rising in schools
✅ Teacher numbers rising
✅ Attainment gap narrowing

More to do, but that’s real progress. The SNP will keep delivering progress for Scotland.

Scotland’s economy is growing while the UK’s is declining.

Latest data shows onshore GDP grew by 0.2% between August and October, and business investment is at a 20-year high.

There is more to do and we will keep working towards a stronger economy, with higher living standards.

After months of uncertainty, the UK government’s support for Grangemouth is welcome and long overdue.

Alongside this, the Scottish Government committed funding last week to support up to 460 new jobs - showing a long-term future for the site is achievable.

The UK government and owners Ineos say the funding will support 500 jobs at the site's ethylene plant.

Over 141,000 affordable homes delivered since the SNP came into office - and we are not stopping there.

We will keep working to ensure everyone has a safe, secure place to call home.

Scotland is one of the most energy-rich countries in Europe, yet families here pay some of the highest bills.

That simply does not add up. An energy-rich Scotland should mean energy-rich Scots.

The events at Bondi beach are an appalling act against the Jewish community at a precious moment in the Jewish calendar.

Such acts are despicable at any time, but ever more so at this moment. I express my sympathy and solidarity to the Jewish community at this time.

New study from LSE, York & Glasgow universities shows the Scottish Child Payment is transforming lives.

Without it, 70,000 more children would face deprivation and food insecurity.

We will keep investing in families and lifting children out of poverty.
Scottish Child Payment | Food Insecurity | Deprivation
New analysis shows the Scottish child payment sharply reduces child deprivation and food insecurity, with no evidence of work disincentives. Discover the findings.

Very sorry to hear of the death of Stanley Baxter - a giant of Scottish entertainment. He brought incredible joy to generations. My sympathy to his family.

Great to visit the Blairgowrie posties in advance of Christmas. They have a lot to do and we are very grateful for the essential service they provide.

Good news for Grangemouth today: we're delivering new funding that will support up to 460 new jobs.

It shows a long-term industrial future for Grangemouth is achievable.

We will continue doing everything we can to support new jobs and investment in the area.

I'm focused on serving the people of Scotland with every fibre of my body.

✅ More NHS operations and more GPs
✅ Literacy and numeracy at record high

Delivering progress on your priorities.

New CBI report shows business investment in Scotland is at a 20-year high.

Despite damaging Westminster decisions like Brexit or Labour's tax on jobs, our economy has many strengths.

Imagine how much more we could do with the full powers of independence.

I’ve just opened the new Drumgeith Community Campus in Dundee - hosting one of the almost 1,200 schools across Scotland rebuilt or refurbished under the @snp.org.

Thanks to the students for the lovely wee gift, designed by them!
