Rolling Stone: clearly documents a 30+ year long con job. A rural county's own leadership lined their pockets by helping ag interests destroy the water supply.

Everyone who read the article apparently??: Amazon data centers did this in 2011

When I hear colleagues mock them it breaks me cause I know what it's like to feel like you aren't welcome due to something often beyond control...

My take has always been that these requests are the floor, not the ceiling, of what students can get to help them learn. Which is our job

This 1000%. Heck I'm much more concerned about the students who would benefit from accomodations but either don't know about them or can't afford to get them officially recognized.

accommodation requests also made me a better teacher..i.e. a blind student made me much better at describing images
Honestly one of the most underreported stories in higher ed is the degree of anger that many faculty feel about accommodations. People I like. In some cases it’s because its another administrative burden dumped on us (I had to find the rooms for all the students on the final with quiet required). 1/
The administration is extorting universities for billions of dollars and attempting to destroy free speech, academic freedom, and independent thought but the Atlantic talked to a few professors at elite universities who think the problem is that some students need a little extra time on exams

Psst: if you have both a local food bank and some spare cash, Penzey’s is doing buy one trial bag, get a second one of the same type free. Up to three bags of each type, so buy 3 granulated garlics, get 3 more for free.

My local food bank doesn’t ASK for spices, but they very much appreciate them.

They're not hiding it, folks—straight up neo-Nazi advertising, from the font to the language to the 11 stars for the Confederacy. Then you have the DHS openly using white nationalist language of "remigrate", which means ethnic cleansing.

This is who MAGA is now.

Americans are too passive about their leaders committing war crimes in our names.
Exclusive: Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth gave an order to “kill everybody” in the first strike on suspected drug boats in the Caribbean. After two men survived, the mission commander ordered a second strike to comply with Hegseth’s instructions, according to two sources.

We’re learning about outlawry in my crime class @viuniversity.bsky.social this week. Interestingly, women couldn't be outlawed in 13th-century England because they were never put in law. Instead, women accused of crimes were ordered to be waived.

For more info, read this ⬇️
Women couldn't be outlawed in 13th-century England because they were never put in law. Instead, women accused of crimes were ordered to be waived if they failed to appear at trial. The consequence of waivery was the same as outlawry's: execution (often immediately and without trial). 🧵1/4

I am only alive today due to multiple discrete episodes of medical interventions. I’d’ve died in childhood if it weren’t for advancing science.

So anti-science stances bug me.

There are many great multi-modal cares too, and I can support them.

Not willful ignorance and misinformation.
