Hi new friends, welcome!
I’m an emergency medicine and addiction medicine physician interested in health policy and advocacy. I post about harm reduction and the intersection between politics and health and healthcare, and my otherwise meandering thoughts of political despair.

So, librarians, do you have a contingency plan for when these goons enter your facility? You might not be able to block access to a public building, but how are you alerting your patrons? Do you have a plan to get them out safely? Because you should.

“Self-deport” is a whitewashed way to describe “fleeing the country under the threat of state violence.” I agree with Maria here — it’s important to call that exactly what it is.
What. No.

Don't use their language, @newyorker.com that is not even a real word. What the hell is wrong with "flee" or like. "Flee this godforsaken country"

it's just a perfect encapsulation of the rhetorical cul-de-sac western Zionists have run headlong into, and a massive gift in kind to anti-Zionist activists because it is openly, unambiguously unhinged

This is devastating:
“Even in the wake of the shooting, we came back. We foolishly thought that was the low point. We thought an attack on the agency fueled by anti-vaccine conspiracy theories would be a wake-up call for our health secretary and for Congress; it was not.”

Lyme is one of many health problems caused & exacerbated by manmade climate change. A legitimate health secretary would acknowledge that.

We actually had a pretty good Lyme vaccine but antivaxxers lied & said it gave people knee pain (it didn’t but knee pain?) & got manufacturer to pull it in 2002.
You know what, shitbird? I have an idea. What about a VACCINE?

There are several in late stages of development.

Will you promote them so we can get “children back into the woods” as you say?

State Department Exiles Critics to “Protect” Free Speech
Last week, Marco Rubio and the State Department revoked visas for five Europeans—including Imran Ahmed, a legal permanent resident in the US married to a US citizen—because they don't like their speech about disinformation. The State Department's justification? This form of speech suppression is necessary to protect free speech. This is merely the latest episode in what will go down as the most anti-free speech, censorial presidential administration in history.

The first patient I had die in the ICU was a previously healthy patient in their early 50s-from Influenza A.

They were NOT vaccinated-they didn’t think they needed it.

Get vaccinated. It could mean the difference between life and death.
The death of any child is tragic. We always think it will not be my child, they are healthy. Severe influenza can be unpredictable & deadly. Getting vaccinated considerably reduces dz severity and deaths. Please make sure you are vaccinated & your children are too.

A Hampton Inn in Asheville just canceled my family's reservation because our address (incorrectly) showed Asheville—and the hotel bars locals within 50 miles.

When I asked why, they said, "because of our homeless population," adding that most hotels here have similar policies.

This is outrageous.

This tech is inappropriate for police use!

It can’t distinguish prescribed stims from illegal ones.

It can’t know if you’re impaired by opioids or feeling normal on your daily methadone.

And given how long cannabis stays in the body, it can’t know if you’re currently baked or smoked last weekend.
A test with a binary result that can’t distinguish between someone who just snorted street amphetamines and someone who took a prescribed dose of Vyvanse that morning is just disability discrimination wrapped in the thinnest possible layer of pseudoscience.
Beyond breathalyzers, San Diego police can now field test drivers for drugs
The SoToxa device tests for cannabis, opioids, methamphetamine and more.

He promoted COVID lab leak conspiracy nonsense, giving liberals the permission structure needed to embrace it.
