Amateurish first broadcast. Couldn't seamlessly move between stories. Surprising fecklessness for CBS.
I like Dokoupil. I reckon, however, all the hype is just marketing to gin up interest. Anchors are called "presenters" in the UK, a more accurate label. 22 minutes to share the headlines. Just like Couric, Williams, and Sawyer, any changes will likely be at the margins. Same/same.

McConnell weaponized procedure. Schumer moralizes it. Guess who won. 👀
If not having control of a branch of government means you have "zilch" in terms of power - then why then hell was Mitch McConnell so damn powerful, huh? Why was he able to be so obstructive.

Could that be because he...had actual power? Or did I just get everything wrong about the last two decades.
They don't have any power to do anything. They have none. Zero. Zilch. Everything else is virtue signaling. It's futile gestures.

Tragedy in Switzerland ski resort. Young people record but don't flee. Calling this the bystander effect is wrong. That is about diffused responsibility. This is habituation and mediated perception. Endless exposure blunts danger. The phone creates distance. The trained instinct is record, not react.

💽 Bright Future is my fav album this year (yes, came out in '24 but didn't get around to it for some reason). Every song is spare, precise, and quietly brave. Grief expressed in an honest way. Lots of space to think and feel.
