Thinking of a convo I had w/ a friend yesterday re:risks of speaking up.
President Roosevelt's admonition:"The only thing we have to fear is fear itself." Today one of the greatest dangers is how easily fear is manufactured, monetized, and unleashed by those who crave power more than truth.

History will judge us harshly for letting this scourge return while genuflecting to these vile carnival barkers. There is NO excuse that relieves us of our societal obligations to use safe, proven prophylactics that our ancestors could have only imagined. 😤 Rage against these Luddites.
Professionally credentialed physicians, in coordination with the Republican Party, have claimed COVID vaccines, for example, are part of a “white genocide,” “deep state” agenda, and “great replacement theory.”

Traveling is so much fun...... not. Like WTAF!! Delays. Rudeness. And manners seem to have atrophied since the pandemic. 👀

For the ages. Three centuries later and just extraordinary. The harpsichord solo alone sounds like Bach admonishing us to “watch what this instrument can do.” 🎼

He’s railing against “people who don’t file claims” as if insurance only works when everyone gets sick. That’s literally how risk pooling keeps costs down.So dumb on many levels.
This ignorance is infiltrating our public discourse. He's an MD who doesn't understand basic economics or statistics.

🚨The Shutdown of U.S.A.I.D. Powerful testimony by Dr. Atul Gawande. ["Clearly I lacked, imagination".] "We are now witnessing what the historian Richard Rhodes termed 'public man-made death,' which, he observed, has been perhaps the most overlooked cause of mortality in the last century." 🛟

R data stuff tonight. It's wild. Every function call spawns a new little universe (an environment) all chained together but aren’t copied: they’re shared. Change a variable in one,and it echoes throughout the void. #rstats

“Poor naked wretches, whereso’er you are,
That bide the pelting of this pitiless storm,
How shall your houseless heads and unfed sides,
Your looped and windowed raggedness, defend you
From seasons such as these? O, I have ta’en
Too little care of this!”....King Lear

Wonder how they’re measuring impact of this intervention on sales.
"Store employees are now required to smile if they are within 10 feet of a shopper.

They also must make eye contact with and wave to or greet the customer.

If they’re within four feet, the employee should ask how the customer’s day is going or if they need help."

🙄 Won't stop the boycott, y'all.

Hilbert’s Grand Hotel captures the odd hospitality of countable infinity:a fully booked hotel with infinitely many rooms can still admit infinitely many guests by rearrangement. The paradox shows how intuition, trained on finite experience, fails with infinite sets. ℵ₀

While the cowards whisper and the filth multiplies on the right, Ben Shapiro’s out there swinging alone. Republicans are cowering in fear rather than calling out the antisemitic scum in their party. Time to stop being gutless swine.

Remember: R’s random seeds are deterministic across sessions. If you call set.seed() with the same value, you will get identical random draws even across different operating systems and versions of R, as long as the RNGkind is the same. R is unusually reproducible for stochastic simulations. #rstats📊
