Nightshade, the free tool that ‘poisons’ AI models, is now available for artists to use
The tool's creators are seeking to make it so that AI model developers must pay artists to train on data from them that is uncorrupted.

So you’re telling me the Wizard of Oz presented itself as a towering force of overwhelming technology, only to be unmasked as just some guy, off-screen?
So apparently, it may turn out that The Wizard of Oz at the Las Vegas Sphere wasn’t entirely made in AI and Google threw the VFX crew under the bus by claiming it was all done by artificial intelligence.

If true, then fucking yikes.

Today’s a good day to buy a magical kid’s book not written by a bigoted freak
there are so many amazing middle-grade magical novels for young readers that have come out in the last decade-ish written by people who are not hateful assholes btw, a quick sampling off the top of my head:

Thread on some of the ChatGPT dangers for vulnerable people--we talk about children a lot, but adults dealing with mental illness are also at risk of isolation and losing what stability they have, and technology moves so quickly, I'm not sure anyone is trained yet to really combat this.
I had a friend for about 30 years. I was there when he started showing symptoms of schizophrenia and self-medicated with drugs, and when he got help. He would always stop taking his meds and call me with his latest “revelation,” usually involving technology and its capabilities he’d “unlocked.” /1
This story explains a LOT of things: ChatGPT appears to be rooting on sociopathic mental illness by validating every delusion of grandeur.

It also explains, in part, the hype cycle around AI: rich people, addicted to praise, invented a Compliment Machine.

I think it’s powerful to see something nice like this, to see someone fight, to bear witness to a meaningful effort to have vulnerable voices be heard. I know it’s not perfect but I really did find this powerful to behold.
Breaking: Cory Booker has officially delivered the longest Senate floor speech in US history, surpassing Strom Thurmond’s filibuster against the Civil Rights Act.
