This is such a misunderstanding of why writers, artists, and designers do research to begin with, which is to find something unexpected, not capture the average or find reference for the default.

And, as always, the biggest misapprehension: We don’t want to NOT do this part. It’s fun to learn shit
Anyone who supports this is an embarrassment. "Instead of typing it out they'll generate their idea"? Are you insane?

Call yourself whatever you want but you aren't creatives, that's for sure.

One of the most rewarding parts of making any kind of art is the seeking out of reference material, and using it to inform your work.

You take that away, and you take away an incredibly important part of what separates decent art from great art.
Cmon man maybe you should double check your posts before towing the company line.

“AI is clearly sticking around so you have to get used to it” wrong. I don’t have to get used to shit. I am a practiced hater and I can keep this going for decades if I am required to

Why am I so against generative AI in games?

Because I simply do not want my initial reaction to art to be one of suspicion and scrutiny, AI slop is fundamentally damaging my relationship to art and artistry, and I am deeply resentful that it is forcing me to be guarded when I should be wowed.

“I want AI to do my laundry and dishes so that I can do art and writing,” as the from SF author Joanna Maciejewska memorably put it, “not for AI to do my art and writing so that I can do my laundry and dishes.” These stories show what happens when it’s the other way around."
Freelance illustration gigs drying up. Ad agencies using Midjourney instead of hiring human artists. Costume design turned over to AI wholesale. Good work vanishing.

These are the stories of working visual artists, who describe losing jobs, wages, and hope as their clients and bosses embrace AI.
Artists are losing work, wages, and hope as bosses and clients embrace AI
Visual artists, illustrators and graphic designers share their stories about how AI is being used to lower wages, degrade work and even replace it altogether, in this installment of AI Killed My Job.

This framing is so interesting to me because Labour literally called me a "flea" that they were happy to "shake off" despite the fact that I was very involved in the party. But I am apparently still supposed to vote for them even after they told me not to do so. Is my vote important or not?
This is why Reform will win (or nearly win).

People on the left hate Starmer/Labour more than they care about the prospect of a Reform led government.

The lessons from the US have not and are not being learned - "it won't happen here" is a view seen far too often.
I have to hand it to the Labour Party, they're undefeated in finding a new way, almost on a daily basis to make me hate them.

The Government of the Workers have just proved that they actually are on the side of the Bosses. Labour are absolute traiters to their supporters.

I guess I won't be posting my work *anywhere* anymore.

It’s worth repeating that when an anti-austerity movement finally arose organically from the public, these politicians worked hand-in-glove with Britain’s national news outlets to destroy it and hound it as far out of public life as possible. So that they could do this, to everyone you know.

Rip. Unbelievably inspirational. I remember sitting in Durham library as a teenager and flicking through the half-life 2 art book and knowing I wanted to do this stuff
Viktor Antonov, le directeur artistique sur Half-Life 2 et la franchise Dishonored, est décédé.

L'information a été confirmée par Marc Laidlaw, ex-ead writer chez Valve sur Half-Life.
