This is starting to get like universal basic income where every single objective study shows the same result but the people who don't like that result go "uh, well there's just really no way to know"
HARVARD BUSINESS REVIEW: “.. In our in-progress research, we discovered that AI tools didn’t reduce work, they consistently intensified it.”

It could be really bad for Discord if Californians contact the office of the Attorney General to report the potential violations of CCPA and CALOPPA citing the recent breach from a few months back where 1.5tb of user data and millions of IDs were leaked, but who can say for sure?

I was about to pitch a story about Riot Games' broadening success with both this game and the new TCG Riftbound. Now? Welp, it sure doesn't inspire confidence in EITHER product category. Why should I believe your pricey new card game won't get the same out-of-nowhere yoink treatment?!

Remember kids:
- Discord is not a place for storing game dev/project materials
- You (probably) don't need Jira
- Your internal deadlines should be BEFORE their final due date
- Don't put up with stuff; speak up
- If someone can't speak up, speak up for them
- Stay a little silly but take no shit

resharing this classic for emphasis on the first point 🙃

take it from someone who has been forced to work professionally within a Discord (TWICE!!!) and seeing the countless flaws both times - Discord is NOT for business. it is a social media platform, and it is not secure.

More than anything, what I find most interesting about this sheet is just how vastly different the metric of "success" in video games was measured as compared to today. A very different (and much healthier) industry.
From the VGHF's Mark Flitman collection (https://archive.gamehistory.org/folder/205c628c-5d0a-4de8-a5a5-782f31706ac0), here's 1994 internal Acclaim data on the (U.S.?) sales of their (many!) Simpsons games. Looks like Bart's Nightmare on SNES did the best....

“I can generate a book in a day and it takes you six months to write one, so I win the race” is one the most pathetic takes I’ve seen today.

If you “generated” a book, you’re not competing in the same race, league, or sport as writers. Playing with Legos doesn’t make you better than an architect.

Completely irrelevant, but I hate when people use ChatGPT to write banal posts like the pictured. It's the laziest, most inane format every time.

"(x) didn't (y).
They didn't (z).
They (did something to) (a), (did another thing to) (b), and (nonsense analogy).
That's how (descriptor of x) (verb)."
🚨The French offices of Elon Musk's X have been raided by the Paris prosecutor's cyber-crime unit, as part of an investigation into suspected offenses including unlawful data extraction and complicity in the possession of child pornography.

As I’ve been working with LLMs the most important thing is remembering how inefficient these things are despite the momentary advantages they seek to possess.

Do I run a server with a GPU sucking script that’s wrong half the time, or pay for a map API service that’s cheaper, faster, and accurate?
Maybe the third time's a charm 😄. Yesterday, I posted that we could eliminate things like country-name dropdowns and replace them with free text, perhaps using an LLM to correct errors.

I don't know why everything has to be a parody. Sincerity is in very low supply right now.

as someone who pushes hard against conspiratorial thinking in my professional and political life, it is deeply irritating when, on top of the untold human harms Epstein caused, it turns out he was at the center of at least half a dozen actual conspiracies
