honestly, @tkingfisher.com has the best solution for some types of recurring thoughts: she makes a donation in its honor and then when it reappears she's like "Nope, I paid my toll, go away."

Higher taxes to build schools, roads, feed kids and the elderly, and have universal Healthcare would be something I'd gladly do in general, but also, it'd be a lot easier to swallow if we stopped capitalist shitheads from charging you prices so they reap 6000% profit.

Some day I hope someone makes an amazing documentary about how the people in each successive city rose up in their own way to drive back ICE and each one learned from the previous and by the time they rolled into Charlotte the meemaws were out for blood from minute one.

authors you have the chance to do the funniest thing right now
AI advocates have warned that if every author in the class action filed a claim, it would "financially ruin" the entire industry.
Authors celebrate “historic” settlement coming soon in Anthropic class action
Advocates fear such settlements will “financially ruin” the AI industry.

Today is a very local holiday, specific to my house, Peel That Cat Day. Thomas goes to the groomer in two hours to be fully dipilitated, granting him another three months safe from his own hair, which is his greatest threat to survival.

Return the Black Hills to native people. Other places would also be good, don’t get me wrong, but there is so much mineral wealth in the Black Hills that deserves infinitely better stewardship and isn’t gonna get it as long as mining companies can just walk onto public land.
"my least woke opinion is---"

That's enough. We've had enough people indulging in the "thrill of a little conservatism", as a treat. Of considering reactionary thought to be a salacious and taboo in a world descending into reactionary mania.

Give me your MOST woke opinions. We're bringing it back.

Seems like we should be paying more attention to how *****Jeffery Freakin' Epstein***** was all "Hell no, that guy's sick, he should NOT be president!" in the run-up to 2016.

my brain can't process how horrifying all these powerful people are because if I let it sink in I will probably scream for the rest of the week, so it keeps tripping over the fact that they're all borderline illiterate weirdos talking about doing crimes on gmail

I get the perspective!

Americans were explicitly told what Trump would dismantle, an actual playback thanks to Heritage, and they still either voted for it or didn't show up to stop it because, again, good and bad reasons. I feel like we can't pretend everything he is doing wasn't clearly outlined.
I disagree. Our entire system is built around the idea that no part of government should be able to fuck things up *too* badly, that there are limits to how much a vote should matter. That's what checks and balances are, guardrails. Trump's dismantling those. Most people did *not* vote for that.

Zero arguments, truly. We are not at odds at all.

I certainly hope whatever comes after this puts in the failsafes to prevent future generations from ever, EVER having to worry about a DT again.
And it should not be among the *possible* consequences of losing a vote.

A lot of churches are turning poor, hungry people away while other poor people are handing out their last five bucks so excuse me if I climb atop this soapbox and muse awhile on how organized religion is more likely to do harm than good far, far too often.
