Not that it matters, but I just want to complain for a sec about how QuickBooks, which I need to use constantly at my job, is bloated with AI trash and popup promos now and everything takes longer than it used to. I hate it so much.

Instead of whatever this is, we should have a government getting lots of new homes and apartments built, lots of clean energy built, lots of high speed rail and transit and bike lanes built, human rights for everyone, economic & healthcare opportunities for all, & innovation that leads the world.

Remember to live your life such that people don't talk about the abject evils you did when you die.
So many people were detained extrajudicially, were tortured, or died because of Dick Cheney. You can't get to the danger we're in now without everything he did. The weapons he helped forge are ones we need to take away from U.S. presidents forever.

All of the pilfering, vandalism, and outright death caused by DOGE cuts, and all of the thefts from the future by illegally stopping research grants, didn't save a penny, Trump spent the money and more on corruption and incompetent ICE goons.
Total federal spending is up +7% in 2025 over 2024 year-to-date to Oct 20.

The story that the fed govt is tightening its belt is contradicted by its own real-time expenditure data. Admin spectacularly hammering some things but raising spending elsewhere.

Was -7% just after Inauguration Day.

NEW: There’s a disaster unfolding in Alaska right now. And no major network is covering it.

The remnants of Typhoon Halong battered western Alaska overnight. Homes, with people in them, have literally been swept into the Bering Strait.

At least 20 are missing. No comment from any federal agency.

Speaking up once again as a former poor kid with parents who had zero dollars for my college education. Pell grants, a scholarship, and subsidized federal loans got me through. College was absolutely critical for me. They want poor kids to stay poor and uneducated.
This is not hyperbole: this Republican bill makes higher education accessible only to the wealthy few and tells the working class to either not go to college or find a more dangerous private lender to do so.

Unacceptable. This bill must be stopped.

I was away for a few days due to a family emergency and noticed this exact thing. It takes special effort to find out what is happening from day to day.
took a few days off for my brain and one pretty alarming observation i have is just how easy it is to not hear about the bad stuff that is happening if you don't explicitly dip into specific information streams (not a new problem but feels orders of magnitude more siloed than even 2-3 years ago)

Hey, do you know your MMR vax status? I just learned I narrowly missed being exposed to measles in two different places last week. I don't know if I had one dose of the vaccine or two when I was a child, so I'm scheduling my MMR booster now.

Much of the time it's hard to see how I have any particular agency in this nightmare, but rereading this helps. A lot of us doing whatever we can, even if it feels small, is how we build a movement.
I wrote about the fascist nightmare of recent weeks, the entirely insufficient response by those who should be in opposition, and how I think we can be our own leaders. Embracing a diversity of oppositional method to face down a gang of thugs who hate all diversity. www.the-reframe.com/its/
