I have about 23 hours of work that I need to squeeze into the next 36. That's a realistic goal right?

Based off the stares that I got at the grocery store I apparently have resting "is that bitch going to pass out" face. As a trans woman I'm used to getting stares here and there. These were overwhelmingly looks of concern

FYI: Jokes where the only punchline is that a presumably straight man has performed fellatio are still homophobic. Even if that presumably straight man is a bigot. Even if that presumably straight man is the worst person on the planet.

"Hahaha, he's gay," is always a crappy joke.

The given reason that Pope Leo is doing this is as a part of the Jubilee of the Poor. And I'm sure that reason is not entirely pretextual but, make no mistake, the Holy See knows that it is Transgender Awareness Week. This is a purposeful gesture.

My daughter and I will be seeing Wicked: For Good next weekend. I'm excited to share this with her so I am listening to the recording of "One Wonderful Night" and just bawling my eyes out. I am 28 days away from winter break. I'm exhausted and I'm ready for extended time just chilling with my kids.

Trump and Vance don’t need the approval of the Pope. They have plenty of guys in white robes who support them.

If you want accurate reporting and analysis, not fearmongering, subscribe to Law Dork, where I always treated this case as the dud it was. (I covered it at the Sixth Circuit; said it was not at all a likely candidate for SCOTUS for review; and that was, basically, that.) www.lawdork.com
BREAKING: The Supreme Court DENIES former county clerk Kim Davis's request for the justices to take up her longshot bid to overturn 2015's Obergefell v. Hodges marriage equality decision. No justice even writes about the request.

I heard from a bunch of federal employees last night and this morning. They aren't happy.

"I would rather be an actual pawn. At least pawn sacrifices are calculated and achieve something. All this for a fucking meaningless vote."

So in the clear light of morning I am no longer crashing out. Next step is to figure out how I can get myself on the cheapest health care plan possible and see where that gets me. There's no limit on the hours I can work starting my 2L year. I just need to survive from Jan. to June.

"You can always DIY" some stranger helpfully suggests in my comments. I am 46 years old. I have two kids. I can't not have healthcare.
Maybe I can just drop to the lowest tier and hope it covers HRT. And then hope my middle-aged self can get by for 3 years without preventative medicine and without getting sick.

So, I guess I'm either going to lose my healthcare or drop out of law school 🤷🏻‍♀️

I might be able to get a few hundred bucks for my comic collection if I'm very lucky. I don't have anything of value. Maybe I can get a hundred bucks for my switch and the couple games I have for it. Maybe $80 got my Tv

i think this is key. taking the deal would amount to taking the blame. it would turn a clear political victory into an unambiguous defeat.
If the Dems blink after all of this, for a deal that all but ensures no ACA subsidies in 2026 anyway, then what was the purpose of letting the shutdown go for 40 days in the first place?

I told my Senators that the message Senate Dems are sending is that if we vote for Democrats resoundingly in an election, they’ll promptly fold.

Is this what they want us to take from this?

I have a kid in college in another state who might get stuck there for T'day if this drags on. THAT'S OKAY. It's worth it to protect healthcare for the entire goddamned country. Jesus, Dems, screw your goddamned courage to the sticking place and find your spines. If we can, so can you!

Okay, Ezra is confirming that he's hearing D senators are actually plotting to cave to Trump and end the shutdown WITHOUT any extension of the ACA, just a promise of a vote later down the line.

Call your senators, friends, NOW, and tell them NO DEAL without ACA funding!

@fetterman.senate.gov's office is closed. But please try reaching out to your Dem. Senator. There are efforts to get SNAP benefits out. This is a horrible situation but a whole bunch of Americans (including me) won't be able to afford healthcare next year if the Dems cave.
Call the United States Capitol switchboard at (202) 224-3121 and they will connect you with your senator's office.

If you're represented by one of the squishier centrists, be sure to make a call. Now.
Sounds like the squishes in the senate caucus are ready to pull the plug with no ACA changes. This is real. If you want to register your opinion you shld call yr senator in the next hour. They not only want to reopen w/nothing. They want cover from their colleagues who still want to hold out.

Sharing "The Wizard of Oz" with my daughter who doesn't remember ever seeing it. She's seen Wicked and we are preparing for Wicked II. Her reaction is a trip. Also this is my first time watching it since I transitioned. I LOVED this movie as a child but then I pretended that I didn't. So I'm crying.
