I spent most of yesterday's halftime show trying to persuade my "smart" TV that it was, in fact, connected to an antenna that could receive broadcast television, so I am watching the show—and loving it—now.

Was not aware live TV could look like this now, but in my defense, I rarely watch anything more recent than from 40 years ago.

I'm convinced AI is our generation's radium - a discovery with genuinely useful applications in specific, controlled circumstances that we stupidly put in everything from kid's toys to toothpaste until we realised the harm far too late where future generations will ask if we were out of our minds.

Fun post about how Google *can* detect fake images generated by Google AI, but only if you know the obscure way to do it.

The mainstream Google tools, meanwhile, claim the image is genuine.

(TLDR: Within Gemini, upload an image & start your prompt with '@synthid' to use the little-known tool)
Made by Google. Missed by Google — except for one tool, buried in the garden shed.
If Google can make the fake, it should flag the fake in all its products

I've scanned & researched another old album from my collection, this time an 1920s Dutch album but with pictures of a trip to London!
Sadly very few clues to help us identify the family.
Check out the album here:

The roses album
A lovely Dutch album that contains a visit to London, unfortunately the original owners didn’t write anything down, no names, no nothing.

I think Herzog should be allowed into the country. I think he should be warmly welcomed. Aguirre, Wrath of God and Fitzcarraldo are fantastic films, and even Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans is pretty underrated.

I do think CS Lewis was on to something when he wrote about the lure of being in the Inner Ring. (“Of all the passions, the passion for the Inner Ring is most skillful in making a man who is not yet a very bad man do very bad things”)
