But if I be I, as I hope it be, I’ve a little dog at home, and he’ll know me; If it be I, he’ll wag his little tail, And if it be not I, he’ll bark and wail.

I loved reggae and dub when I was a kid but it was hard to find any, growing up in Mt Gambier...I bought anything I could find with Sly and Robbie on it. This was a particular favourite, with Sly and Robbie in a double rhythm section, really going out there... www.youtube.com/watch?v=uHDs...

I think Herzog should be allowed into the country. I think he should be warmly welcomed. Aguirre, Wrath of God and Fitzcarraldo are fantastic films, and even Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans is pretty underrated.

Been watching a lot of Chinese DTV action movies, which seems like a particularly rich field right now. Chris Huo's 2025 The Sixth Robber is a fantastic Johnnie To-esque neo-noir (there's even an explicit reference to To's The Longest Nite)... letterboxd.com/film/the-six...

I mixed this for a new label called Red Raw based out of the Red House in Sydney. Fans of free improvised music may like it...it's interesting to work on this type of music since you have to try to imagine the performers' intent...if that makes sense. redrawlive.bandcamp.com/album/16-feb...

On Thursday Kate thought it was Friday and I believed her. Now I'm still feeling confused, like today should really be Monday. And don't get me started on the whole new year thing. It's going to take quite some time to get used to that particular change of reference.

I grew up in a rural environment where death is a constant companion. You learn from birth to avoid risks and to be reliable because anything less could mean death for you or your family or even your entire community. You cannot believe how much it pisses me off when I don't get a reply to an email.

We got a new (old) car recently, a 2009 Honda CR-V, so we got a Sony head unit put in that does the Airplay stuff. Kate just realised she can dictate messages while she's driving. She said it made her feel like an old-time boss. I think she's going full Gary Numan... www.youtube.com/watch?v=LrjM...

Had a 10" 45RPM dubplate of my War Pigs EP made by Phonolab in Newcastle...sounds great! I grew up during the heyday of the 12" maxi-single, so it's a pretty nostalgic format for me.

Going to see Good Boy tonight, at the Nova in Carlton, but it means leaving the dogs at home...if a movie has dogs in it, you should be allowed to bring your dogs to the theatre. And if a company uses a dog as a mascot or in advertising you should be allowed to take a dog into their store, surely...
