But if I be I, as I hope it be, I’ve a little dog at home, and he’ll know me; If it be I, he’ll wag his little tail, And if it be not I, he’ll bark and wail.

It is a sport. Everybody copies whatever was popular overseas twenty years ago, and whoever does the best impersonation gets a prize. But nothing too weird, mind you. A bureaucrat has to be able to enjoy it, and we all know how imaginative they are.

Arts funding in Australia is firstly a way to manage dissent and secondly a form of political capital. That's it. Art is treated like it's sport, a zero-sum game. Nobody ever talks about what Gerald writes about, just the attention he receives. It's a cesspool. Best to keep well fucking clear of it.

I think Plex or Bilibili TV but it depends on where you are...also the English subs often aren't so good, but you get used to it.

His 2024 film Second Life is silly and good, and stars Yuen Qui, the landlord from Kung Fu Hustle, who is wonderful...it's always great to see old HK action stars still making films. letterboxd.com/film/second-...

Miike's Yakuza: Like a Dragon movie is pretty fun. It's not his best work, maybe, but it's worth watching for sure, and has a couple of great fan service moments. Mari Asato did the FF movie and she's great, does weird arthouse/commercial horror hybrids...Forbidden Siren was better than I expected.

Not all video game movies suck...Fatal Frame was awesome in a bonkers way...same with the original Super Mario Brothers...Miike Takashi's Yakuza: Like a Dragon adaptation is pretty fun...uh...Kiyoshi Kurosawa's Sweet Home rocks...and Forbidden Siren is surprisingly good (the game kinda sucks though)
