I like books (so much I became a librarian) and deconstructing toxic theology. Neurodivergance runs rampant in my house, as well as queer allyship.
The kids are alright. Just helped a teenage boy at work who'd just read his first John Grisham book and was kind of surprised at how much he liked it and wanted know which other Grisham book he should read next. The unselfconscious joy at finding something he was excited to read was heart warming

Starbucks’ CEO makes 6,666x what the average @sbworkersunited.org barista does. It would take less than one day of sales to finalize a fair contract.

Baristas at Starbucks corporate stores nationwide are on strike to fight this corporate greed and get the fair contract they deserve.

I always find it interesting how the story changes when a lawyer gets to court. They can say anything they want outside of court without accountability but the rules are vastly different in court where you can get seriously penalized for lying.

Amazon is helping fund a $300 million build of a ballroom for the White House.

Independent bookstores are donating to food banks and organizations that help with food insecurity.

They are not the same.

Every time I notarize something at work, I can't help but remember the time Taco became a notary.
a man in a suit and tie is standing in front of a wall holding a gun and saying notorized .
Alt: Man in a short sleeve button down and tie dramatically turning around with a notary stamp in hand proclaiming the word "Notarized!!"

One of our sports Saturday morning routines that I have forced on my family is listening to Jock Jams on the way there and back, just like we did for every spring event when I was in middle school #millennial #eldermillenial

I'm sorry you miss my children, but you chose to to refuse to accept who one of them is. You told me that it's not your fault that they think they're something that isn't real. But how can something that has brought my child back to life not be real? The sullen sulky kid who didn't want to…

I'm sorry you miss my children, but you chose to to refuse to accept who one of them is. You told me that it's not your fault that they think they're something that isn't real. But how can something that has brought my child back to life not be real? The sullen sulky kid who didn't want to go to school and didn't want to leave their room, who's now thrilled to see their friends and create art in the colors of flags you think represent imaginary things.

The CEO of a a multi-trillion dollar company went to the White House, openly handed the US president a gift made of gold, and his company got a special exemption to tariffs the president has illegally imposed.

Also, the Founders took bribery so seriously the Constitution bans it 3 separate times.

When I was little, the U.S. military came to our home at gunpoint and took me and my family away. We were imprisoned for years in barbed wire camps simply because we were Japanese American. I have spent my life telling that story, hoping it would never be repeated.

Striking. After Texas banned abortion, ER visits for early miscarriage rose 25% and blood transfusions surged 54%.

Doctors delayed care like D&Cs out of fear of prosecution. More women nearly bled to death. buff.ly/egXhmm7

I recently read Americanah by Chimamanda Adichie Ngozi and Ifemelu's struggles to adapt to Nigeria after living in America for 13 years. I remembered that it's been 13 years since I moved from my native state.

Ifemelu wondered what had changed more, Nigeria or her. I often wonder the same thing.

There is no honor in making others struggle solely because you did. Persevering through difficulty is worth celebrating, but is worth even more if you can lessen the burden for those who come after you, especially those less fortunate, less privileged. That way lies glory.

Van Hollen: I should also just say, I mentioned the fake margarita, they actually wanted to have the meeting by the side of the pool in the hotel. They want to create this appearance that life was just lovely for Kilmar. Which of course is a big, fat lie.

There are a lot of bad things happening all at once, and it’s overwhelming to think about how to meet moments like this.

Jean says to focus on 1 or 2 things that you care about, understand fairly well, and are either local or involve a topic where you’re likely to have influence and find community
