What this order makes clear is that plaintiffs can collect a mountain of animus, the district court can write extensively about the record, and the Supreme Court will just go “nuh uh.”
BREAKING: The Supreme Court will allow the Trump administration to enforce its anti-trans and anti-nonbinary passport policy during litigation.

The unsigned, four-paragraph order effectively reverses two lower-court decisions. The Democratic appointees dissent.

Becoming more and more glad I chose not to take on that six figure debt total had I chose a different school!
The Dept of Education is now accepting comments on a proposed rule that would overhaul Public Service Loan Forgiveness, and make it too expensive for students to go into work that threatens the Trump administration

Folks have til *Sept. 17* to oppose the changes

The Trump White House Is Trying to Price Law Students Out of Public Service

Lower-income law students are likelier than most to become public interest attorneys. Yet changes to student loans programs in Trump's "Big Beautiful Bill" will make it harder for them to attend law school going forward
How Trump’s “Big, Beautiful Bill” Will Make Law School Unaffordable For People Who Are Not Already Rich
Sweeping changes to key student loan programs will make it harder for aspiring public interest attorneys to attend law school—and exacerbate this country's justice gap.

With this budget, ICE alone would have nearly as large a detention operation as all 50 states' prison systems combined. Bigger budget than the Marine Corps. Police-state levels of spending
If the GOP reconciliation bill passes, ICE gets through FY2029:

- $45 billion for detention, on top of the current annual budget of $3.4 billion
- $14.4 billion for transportation and removal, on top of the current annual budget of $750 million
- $8 billion for hiring/retention
- Billions more.

Federal district courts have ruled against Trump admin 94% of the time.

Supreme Court has sided with the Trump admin 94% of the time.

The Minnesota assassin appears to be a hate-filled right winger. So can we stop walking on eggshells about MAGA's legitimization of political violence?

Yes, Republicans have also been the target of inexcusable violence, but this isn't a "both sides" issue.

as long as the material conditions of people’s lives are tied to patterns of racial inequality — as long as racism marks them as racialized people exposed to some
of the worst forms of social domination and class inequality — then there is no disregarding race as a social reality

All of these can be true:
1. A small contingent of Gaza protestors have antisemitic views.

2. The protests overall are driven by opposition to mass murder, not antisemitism.

3. Conservatives are using "campus antisemitism" as a cudgel to imprison protestors & delegitimize universities

one thing i keep thinking about is how there is simply no way to design a constitutional system that can resist authoritarian incursion if participants in that system do not actually care that much

"we're in a constitutional crisis and the entire government has been handed to an unelected billionaire to break at his personal whim" is a true statement

and it also has not, yet, broken in a way that fucks with the day to day life of most people

it will have to do so before they notice
