Put together some thoughts here.

In an earlier time he would have been the kind of writer being paid $5 a word by magazines to go write about whatever he pleased. And no one would be pissed off or jealous about it either.

alright, this one's going to ruffle some feathers. i wrote about how we're in the midst of a crisis of movies that don't actually say anything, with Alex Garland's Civil War standing in as the key example:

Two of the best things about the novel as a cultural form is that you can do it when you're super old and you can spend decades on it. But malign forces are trying to turn it into some kind of popstar-adjacent economy

If you’re a writer, it’s important to take regular breaks. Gradually increase their frequency and duration. Eventually you will have stopped writing altogether, and can take your place as a normal, decent member of society.

let me put it in words he’ll understand:

Bündnis Sahra Wagenknecht’s failure and the comparable success of Die Linke shows that successful left-wing populist movements must shed the lifestyle obsessions of strange minorities: like anti-trans activists, racists and so-called “anti-woke” elites. 😉
the “atrocious analysis” is to pretend that Die Linke’s relentless focus on economic issues involved discarding a single piece of what Bhaskar would sneeringly call “woke”
