If you're in Southeast Michigan, this set of resources I've compiled have a lot of organizations working to protect those under threat from the new administration.
Happy to share that for #GivingTuesday I've created my 5th (!) edition of Ryan's Community Giving Guide for SE Michigan. Please share widely, and let me know if you discover/donate to someone new through this work - it really helps!

You can grab the full PDF version at www.henyard.com/giving
And I hope there will be a livestream of Aëtos eating dinner every night

spouse got into the study and enrollment was incredibly swift and smooth; one of the best trial rollouts I've seen in terms of logistics and ease of use!
Just heard about this huge (49 state) long covid trial using tirzepetide (aka zepbound) one of the newer glp meds. It’s run by researchers at scripps, funded by the eric & wendy schmidt foundation. It looks like it is still enrolling, fully remote participation:

LoCITT-T - Long COVID Treatment Trial
The Long COVID Treatment Trial-Tirzepatide (LoCITT-T) is investigating the efficacy of repurposing this drug to treat Long COVID.

The good: I start my new W4 tomorrow.

The bad: My new gig pays *monthly* at the end of each month and I'm starting at the beginning of the period, so I wont get paid until New Years.

There's 12% or $8407 left to close out this ENTIRE campaign. I REALLY need a hand to hold onto the gig.
Oh Hai 👋🏿

If I can keep these gig contracts steady, the last 15% of this campaign (that I started in October 2022) will go to the bigger ticket items that I still need like neonate appropriate pulse oximeters, for ex., and my licensure exam fees.

This is what I came for.

To be clear, I do not regret A SINGLE MOMENT spent keeping people safe. They deserve it. We all deserve it.

But I do sometimes wonder what this would have looked like, in a world that valued us.

We are out here trying to protect multiple generations of students, and let me tell you. That "Cancel Culture"? Didn't cancel a single one of these fuckers.

*maybe* Ott, who was junior, almost managed a comeback, and a lot of us died on that hill. And I have zero faith he'll stay gone.

I truly do not believe that most men, including "the good ones" understand how much of our careers get spent on this.
The skillset I have learned up including how to file protection orders, navigate countless procedures that target survivors, how to protect ourselves, friends, and students...
Imagine the things we could do with our time if we didn’t have to do this bsky.app/profile/chan...
I did my job. And then I did a job that never should have been my responsibility afterwards, sending emails and having meetings about how this was allowed to happen in the first place. Other women scholars had to spend their time explaining to Aspen leadership why this was not ok.

Alice is the gold standard of what Twitter was when it was great - how you could just find these brilliant, remarkable people with the kind of voices that rarely get platformed or taken seriously, and hear about their lives in their own words without intruding on them or demanding emotional labor
Watching disabled people around the world mourn Alice is a reminder of the good aspect of the internet. 30 years ago, few people outside of SF would ever have known Alice existed. I never would have met her. The internet connected us all. Let’s honor Alice’s memory by using that power and community.
My social media is wall-to-wall love for the incomparable Alice Wong, and I need more words. What captures sadness and/also affection for a community that knows what's been lost?

I hope Alice’s memory is never sanitized. She supported free Palestine. She believed in deep pleasure for disabled people, sexual, aesthetic & otherwise. She was unflinching in calling out people’s bullshit. Don’t let the mainstream turn her into some desexualized defanged inspiration porn!!!

Still definitely a bad brain day, but got some things done. Picked out and ordered a replacement photo printer while it's on sale, and got the bulk of work done for updating my annual giving guide that I put out every giving tuesday; will hopefully be able to release online next week 🤞🏾🪶

Spent the weekend in Mount Pleasant—the same Iowa city we visited in 2018 after it was hit by a massive ICE raid.

If researching deportation has taught me anything, it’s this: communities, are strong, creative, and resourceful. They never asked to be heroes. But if you make them, they will.
