If you needed another proof that the so-called centrism will always put business and profits ahead of human rights, environmental rights and everything in between. To the point they vote with the far-right in the EU Parliament.
The've officially done it – the centre-right EPP has voted with the far-right to cut protections for human rights & nature, all to boost corporate profits

This is an extremely worrying sign for upcoming proposals to strip away more protections for climate, labour rights, privacy and more

#omnibus
The adopted omnibus is pure deregulation on the EU's human rights, environmental and climate law.

Brought to you by the center right EPP turning away from pro democratic parties and working with the far right.

79% of homes sold in Dublin this year were bought by landlords, 75% by large landlords. About 1 in 5 TDs are landlords.

This is disgusting dog whistling. The problem has never been people seeking asylum. The problem is people seeking to endlessly profit from folks just looking for a home.
🗣️ "The one thing that there is a problem with is housing right across the state, and the more that come to seek asylum, the more pressure it puts on that system.” - Fianna Fáil Minister of State Timmy Dooley

I think in general I have a fairly high “politician forgiveness” threshold because I understand they face a firehose of shit everyday and also in a democracy they have to comprise all the time, but Simon Harris not standing up for immigrants in this moment feels like one that crosses that threshold

It’s time we call out the responsibility such statements have, north and south. Those are enabling - run afoul of our legal obligations under IHRL - and propelling violence against persons as a means to express political dissent. It’s more than irresponsible: it’s unacceptable

Just a reminder to avoid the GPO & the Dáil tomorrow, as the latest 'revolution' by the racist bigots is taking place. Starting at the GPO at 12.15pm (formal attire requested) infesting the streets to the Dáil for 2pm. Previous years have seen tense scenes, so avoid if possible.
