matt & co’s theory of how public opinion on immigration would respond to new information was simply empirically wrong.
at this point the only reasonable conclusion is they refuse to update their priors w/ new data because the data is inconvenient for them

It was never about "free speech", it was always about controlling who got to speak and about what. They didn't like that the academy (for all it's failings) was teaching critical thinking or holding up a mirror to evaluate history through a critical lens.
“At Texas A&M, internal emails show staff are using AI software to search syllabi and course descriptions for words that could raise concerns under new system policies restricting how faculty teach about race and gender.”

May be the dumbest article I have read in a while. The "class over all else" argument is why many minority groups look askance at some socialist messaging. This isn't a story about worker protections but about naked racist abusiveness directed towards a customer.
“Those of us on the left should be fighting to improve protections for workers of all races, and thereby for the betterment of people’s material conditions regardless of their views,” Arash Azizi argues:
Why the Cinnabon Story Doesn’t Make Me Happy
The left should be promoting working-class solidarity, not delighting in seeing workers summarily dismissed.

Good lord this is embarrassing. Having to defend the ramblings or incoherent narcissists, who creates phantom menaces to cover his incompetence and corruption just illustrates how far the rot has spread. The amount of accountability that will be needed is going to be massive.
GLASHEEN: Antifa is our primary concern right now. That's the most immediate violent threat we're facing

BENNIE THOMPSON: Where is antifa headquartered?

GLASHEEN: ... ... ... we are building out the infrastructure right now

THOMPSON: What does that mean?

This is what conservatives mean by "Fair and balanced". Immunity to criticism of any type. Only praise and capitulation.
David Ellison appears to be mortified that CBS/60 Minutes is “going rogue” by covering the news and by keeping him “in the dark” about a segment critical of Trump.

Because Ellison doesn’t realize that’s how it’s supposed to work.

Hiring a Black woman: “identity politics”

Hiring a white guy for a job that has been held disproportionately by white guys, because he is a white guy: “subverting” identity politics!
