I wrote a comprehensive guide for how gender allies can help trans people in these dark times. It’s organized by time commitment and level of experience with trans issues, so it should be accessible to anyone wanting to get involved.

okay but you aren’t

again, you could be shutting down all senate business by denying every single unanimous consent request, you could be down at Treasury with cameras, you could be doing something other than issuing strongly worded statements

your actions have to match what’s happening
No one elected Elon Musk.

As Donald Trump allows Musk to access people’s personal information and shut down government funding, Republicans in Washington will also own the consequences.

We must do everything in our power to push back and protect people from harm.

Gunpoint.

Musk is telling duly appointed and security cleared government officials that they will be shot if they don't turn over to Musk sensitive information to which he has no right.

In any other country, we'd call it a coup.

One of the best things you can do right now is read books. Buy them. Borrow them from the library. Gift them.

Read history. Read fiction. Read science writing. Read anything that shows you the world is bigger than what fascists say it is.

Read to remember why your resistance matters. 📚💙

It’s Black History Month, friends. 🫶🏽

We have NEVER required the acknowledgment of a colonizing occupier, to see one another’s beauty, share our stories with each other.

Read the entire article here on how AI is exacerbating existing issues re access to electricity in Arizona. This is only going to get worse, unless we stop pretending that AI has no downsides and also MUST be incorporated into every aspect of our lives.

In the shadows of Arizona’s data center boom, thousands live without power
As data centers drain America’s power grids, a fierce battle is being waged for electricity. On Navajo Nation land, many are on the losing end.

Rest in Power, Lorraine O’Grady.

So many of us working in Black creative traditions are her intellectual children. We have been lucky.

It is a big and sad thing to lose her and Nikki Giovanni so close together.
Lorraine O'Grady lifted me up with her intellect, her wit, her nerve. This assignment came at a point in my life when I needed it and didn't even know. She was a blessing.

I am saddened to know Lorraine has passed, and I am endlessly grateful to her. She lit flames that will never go out. 🖤
The Audacity of Lorraine O’Grady
In wake of her tragic passing today, we revisit our 2024 interview with the renegade and eternally punk-rock conceptual artist.
