Anyway it is generally a good idea to listen to the elders not the pundits.
Yknow I’d like to say that the U.S. isn’t supposed to go around invading countries (and it’s not), but I’m a citizen of a Native Nation of THIS land, and this country is BORN of invasion. This is standard practice for this country, yall.

And yes, I’m still mad as hell about Venezuela.

If one is interested in the historical antecedents of the current situation, it's important to remember the 1856 Guano Islands Act.
The US has always been extractivist and imperialist. When thinking of better futures, we must be honest about the deep roots of our problems.

Absolutely.
The US also did this repeatedly in Central and South America during the Cold War. It's very on-brand.

The world's worst people are having a collective meltdown over Mayor Mamdani.

I love it.

A gift as the seasons turn back to the sun. Please read my story, “Carrying the Light: A Winter Solstice Tale”, included in this amazing end-of-year edition of “The Game”, w/Editorial Director Kevin Powell. I’d be honored if you shared with your networks.

Submitted a draft story and now I won't think on it. Been doing this for years, and I still get hella nervous when things go to edit.

Excited too, though. :)

My writing mentor, who has written 15+ books and edited many more, and done so many amazing things over a decades long career - said I’m one of his favorite writers.

There isn’t a better Christmas gift than that. I can’t think of what could top it. 😭🥹💙🎄

I just realized I hit my 27 year sobriety birthday on Dec 15th.

I do not miss a moment of those days, and life can be hard at times, but it is endlessly easier, more beautiful, more fulfilling, sober.

You go, Me.

If you’re muddling thru the holidays, I see you.

It’s hard to feel joy these days. Expectations are happiness killers, and it’s good to free yourself of them. Your happiness, your joy matters too. Lifting you up, friends.

I was in Anza Borrego for a few days about a year ago. Flipped on the tv in my hotel room and Stand By Me was just starting. Hadn’t seen it in decades. Was so moved by it that I watched it again the very next day. Only the most beautiful of souls could have made such a profound work of decency.

Rob Reiner will be remembered with more love, more affection, respect, and deference than he EVER will, and that’s what gets to him the most. Reiner is beloved. He never will be.

It’s a collective shame that two years into genocide we spend today celebrating an ONGOING genocide.

Typically I’m good at staying positive. The world is just rather heavy today, and I am pretty disheartened. I need someplace to put this feeling, so that’s Bluesky today.

God’s blessings are coming, and I remain faithful. I just need to put the burden down for a minute from time to time.
