Reason number 3665 why I love working at a Tribal college - food from our gardens. Our Ag department is doing a distribution for our students on campus. This was all raised/canned here.

While I’m thinking of it; I’m graduate faculty with the University of Alabama in case there are other Native grad students out there looking for support/mentoring. 😉 There needs to be more of us, there’s so much work to do. I see you.

It’s our annual Culture Camp week at our Tribal College, and I took a quick stroll around the lodges while our campers were out for evening showers. In moments like this I can hardly believe I get paid for this work. 💚

Today was graduation for our Tribal College. I have been doing this for ten years now, and I don’t know how I got so lucky to do work that helps rebuild Tribal Nations.
Great day. 💙

I remember him always, but today it’s just a little bit more with me. I often wonder what he would have made of today’s world, and I talk to him regularly about a lot of things. Earthside is definitely harder without him, but many ppl’s lives, to this day, are also better because of him.

He left us suddenly in 2020. I fully believe he was an early casualty of COVID, as the deaths had started happening, but of course there were no tests at that time. His long diagnosed diabetes meant he was vulnerable. A few years ago, my elder cousin named this sober living facility in his honor.

He struggled with alcoholism for decades when we were young, and I to adulthood, to the point it nearly killed him a few times. He finally got sober for good around 2017.

This is me and my big brother. Older by 11 months. (I was an oops baby). Five years ago today he passed on. He was an amazing, kind and brilliant man, and one of my best friends near all my life.
