i think this is exactly right. fascism is the Death Drive as ideology. it's why the catastrophic end of the Nazi Party does not deter people from worshipping Nazis. that the Nazis destroyed Germany along with the rest of Europe is part of the appeal.

I’ve come to the understanding that bad faith/inaccurate criticisms of problematic franchises are the fandom equivalent of when somebody gets outed as predator and suddenly everyone always knew they “bad vibes” It’s a way to launder the passive act of doing nothing into a proactive social good
Like you can KIND OF parse the "Are the Avengers/Batman/TMNTwhoever soldiers/mercenaries/firefighters/etc?" thing but "HARRY POTTER" is straight-up about obedient schoolchildren with good GPAs who become COPS. That is the *weakest* sh-- to make your lifelong obsession.
