pluribus is the only show brave enough to ask if one mean lesbian could save the world

I love Pluribus because it asks real questions like, what if you could end death by killing everyone? And also, what if you gave the world's angriest lesbian a tv show?

A man in a Pirates hat and an Amazon vest just handed me an individual pair of panties I bought from Hank Green because I was on the front porch smoking weed when he delivered it. He had to take a photo of it in my hands before he could leave. The future is stupid

I'm obsessed with this marvelous documentary about two dudes who decide to get very into bird-watching because they were high looking at a bird guide book. It looks incredible, even the parts that look like shit. Worth everyone's time.

We report on a stormy morning: we had been expecting this weather last night, or even yesterday afternoon, but it came late. We were still waiting for it. The first bit of thunder is long, uninterrupted, like a drum roll. It is still far away; we can wait a little longer.

If you can substitute "hungry ghost trapped in a jar" for "AI" in a sentence it's probably a valid use case for LLMs. Take "I have a bunch of hungry ghosts in jars, they mainly write SQL queries for me". Sure. Reasonable use case.

"My girlfriend is a hungry ghost I trapped in a jar"? No. Deranged.

Such a smart & thoughtful piece on watching Eddington as a trans person in a conservative rural town. Worth reading even if you have no plans to see the movie (which this author liked more than I did, while having very valid concerns about how it's likely to be received). jude-doyle.ghost.io/on-see/

We report as the sun is bruising purple behind clouds. It takes us some days to realise it, but this August already feels like a summer's end. As always, we smell it in the air; subtle, but something colours it with deep, earthy tones. Today, there is melancholy in newborn light.

Underrated big shift in the influencer era in terms of who has cultural capital: away from performers, writers, artists, musicians etc and to people who are really good at running a small business and doing SEO/social media.

Pretty polar opposite political valences in those skillsets.

Works every time
I know this can sound like trite and insincere advice, but it's almost annoying how much it can help sometimes.

Take a walk.

Think of one thing you're grateful for, no matter how small.

Think of one small thing that is in your control that you can do right now, and do that thing.

They should also say, aloud, that when an incoming admin institutes, as policy, a program of destabilization and chaos in order to establish "dominance," which is what the flurry of terrible news all week has been about, events like this are the inevitable result. 2/2
