My wokest opinion, or maybe my least woke, is that interpersonal kindness and honesty are inseparable from systemic justice and good policy. I don't trust petty bullies and dishonest interlocutors to maintain left-wing principles when granted power. You betray those principles when you are cruel.

I have a new, long piece in The Ideas Letter called “The Great Reckoning: What the West Should Learn from China," arguing that we must learn from China even (or especially) when its successes unsettle our assumptions. Link below.

"College age" is an inherently stupid and detrimental term/mindset people just implictly go with that leads you into thinking the window of 18-25 is all you have to further yourself via education, and ends up deterring alot of people from pursuing their desires

rules about nighttime “quiet hours” where like it’s considered an offense to disturb people by being loud after 10 pm or whatever should extend through 10 am, and they only don’t because our society thinks anyone still in bed at 7:15 is a morally weak person

"Personality disorders" as a clinical diagnosis do way more harm than good. They convince people that there is something fundamentally wrong with them that cannot be changed. The associated symptoms/behaviors can be fully explained by other, more constructive, less stigmatizing diagnoses.

Love how file sharing was framed as stealing but a comparable situation where the only meaningful difference is that tech industrialists get rich is not supposed to be stealing.

So it's only individual consumers who steal, and who they steal from is not artists but in fact tech industrialists.
