Have you met baby Kaikai?

This 6-month-old little girl is a rascal!

Without her mom around anymore, they, along with the older elephant orphans, will help raise her until she’s ready to return to the wild and live as she should once again.

In about 8 years.

Thank you @sheldricktrust.bsky.social!

Advent Sunday & London was bitterly cold and wreathed in a damp fog which smelt of underground rivers and coal smoke. The Dragon of Kensington Church Street, however, was exceedingly well wrapped up in a Sèvres blue muffler and matching mittens.

Crowds turned out yesterday despite the rain for the annual Abingdon Christmas Extravaganza which brought together entertainment, a parade, a market, and the Christmas lights switch-on. The town was further entertained by music, dancing and donkeys.

Christmas has arrived in Abingdon, went out to support my friend’s choir (she’s hidden at the back) and browse the market. Very much feeling the spirit of the season now. ☺️🎄🎶

I once asked a bookseller at a large indie store how many people would have to buy a book for it to get the attention of the store buyer and cause an additional order and they said: Three.
I see some book piracy discourse, and, to make a positive argument in favor of buying books, your marginal ability to influence what books get published and support the careers of writers you like is massive compared to most other forms of media.

Wow. BBC journalists are now not even allowed to report the censored line from my Reith Lecture, that Trump is “the most openly corrupt president in American history.”

You can hear how carefully they’re forced to tiptoe around it. So chilling...
