Mostly just posting what comes to mind, like politics, video games, pop culture, advertising jingles stuck in my head for decades, some void screaming, every now and then post my "bad" art. Should probably come back and edit this description someday.He/Him

Just and threaten to ban the company and within 48 hours they'll be begging for a list of things to remove to be allowed back
After a court order, X refuses to take down the non consensual intimate images of a Canadian citizen in violation of the law.

They’re acting like a user saying they don’t want intimate images online for the world to see is equivalent to, idk, a US President censoring political opinions 🙄 1/

Would also like to add to this magical moment the fact that right after he said this, the woman who pitched the idea for this film to Disney revealed herself to be randomly in the audience.
Ryan Coogler said part of his influence for making Sinners was a childhood love for the Disney movie “Luck of the Irish” and let me tell you…he is so real for that.

There are quite a few ethical and justice oriented AI people who talk about having lifelong love for a vision of AI that is being trashed by the current thing, and I wonder if any of those positive visions have been articulated somewhere? What is it ppl think AI is supposed to be instead of this?

If you ask historians of medicine what keeps them up at night, many will not say a new plague or bioterrorism, they will answer, "antibiotic resistance."

What many hadn’t realized was that the Twin Cities’ internet scene had basically been *born* from people staffing the recording consoles at Paisley Park. A number of the recording engineers there had also founded Bitstream, one of the first dial-up internet providers and web hosts in Minneapolis.

It’s pretty simple.

When you do a huge armed midnight raid on an apartment building rounding up and terrorizing children and later find out there were no criminals there everyone involved resigns in shame and we have loud showy Congressional hearings.

I just don't think you get to 2025 in the US with people openly and nakedly questioning capitalism with 2/3 of younger Americans supporting socialism without occupy. I'm also aware Occupy didnt come out of a vacuum but it was an inflection point.

I resent spending my time rooting around user interfaces to turn off the AI. I should track these as billable hours and invoice Sam Altman. Wasting my time in a way slaveholders could have only dreamed of owning my labor.

The best health care plan would be the government taxing everyone but especially the rich to pay doctors and hospitals so we have health care. We’ve spent at least 100 years pretending this is not the case.

It was a victim of its own success in a lot of ways.

I was doing economic justice work pre-Occupy and the before/after was light and day.

The previously-fringe discussion or wealth inequality became SO mainstream SO fast that folks kind of forgot it was new information to most in 2011.
I've listened to several podcasts and read several articles on why people are souring on capitalism and they all don't mention Occupy which is weird to me because of nothing else they mainstreamed a lot of the language we use today. And it was a genuinely big deal at the time.

THAT'S LITERALLY HOW THE SUBSIDIES & ACA EXCHANGES WORK ALREADY.

CONSUMERS ARE INFORMED BY COMPARING POLICIES ON THE ACA EXCHANGES, THEN THEY PURCHASE ONE AND THE GOVERNMENT PAYS SOME OR ALL OF THE COST OF THAT POLICY.

I'M TEARING THE LITTLE HAIR I HAVE ON MY HEAD OUT.
Cassidy: "The president is proposing that we take the $26b that would be going to insurance companies if we just do an extension and give it directly to the American people in which 100% of the money is used for them to purchase healthcare on their own terms. That makes them an informed consumer."
