Late to this, but if the Sunday Times is correct that Morgan McSweeney spent one and a half hours last week with Lord Glasman then he isn't fit to fill any senior position in government.

The Prime Minister said in September that we are at a fork in the road. These asylum proposals suggest we have taken the wrong turning.

The idea that recognised refugees need to be deported is wrong.

Also economically. The argument is explicitly 'New Labour's economic approach was wrong'. Okay, Keir...what is yours? Do you have one?!

I am hardly a natural Rayner cheerleader, but genuinely furious that she's gone. Laurie Magnus's verdict confirms she acted on advice, she just missed the disclaimer saying she should get extra advice. Not just an honest mistake - a mistake literally anyone could make. There but for the grace etc...

The actual data being presented shows immigration is falling significantly. But if the visuals that precede it are "busy hospital", "MIGRATION CRISIS", and "full small boat" (in scary washed out colours) the opposite message has already been served up, absorbed, and is hard to dislodge. ~AA

Whatever your politics "Labour right the ship, Reform falls back, and they get a fairly comfortable second term" would be a great outcome for sending those currently tweet-wanking about civil war even more mad.

Feels like a bit of a narrative violation that Britain's HDI only overtook Canada and the US in the past 10 years. I'd guess driven by life expectancy?

I’m old fashioned enough to think the BBC should be leading on what the deal is and what it means. Rather than the political claims from both sides.

Given its mythology in current Labour strategy, you wouldn't think that percentage of people voting BNP in Barking and Dagenham actually went up between 2006 and 2010.

What on earth is the line of thinking behind what makes this news + front line splash?

Why is later career as a lawyer/judge of somebody who Starmer had a personal relationship with at some point around 1998 + ending over > 20 years ago relevant?

Not being funny but this stuff - along with what Starmer came out with, going beyond what the Supreme Court judgement said - has been an LGBT equivalent of the LBC Gaza interview for Labour. There is a lot of anger over this. It's also not really clear what upside there is for them saying any of it.
