“We cannot, as a society, have people deciding literally to shoot first and ask questions later.”
María Florinda Ríos Pérez de Velásquez’s killing led to a criminal charge after a couple mistakenly tried to unlock the wrong door.

Shootings linked to wrong addresses have intensified the debate over how far “stand your ground” protections extend.
Two minutes on a porch, a misunderstanding and a fatal shot
María Florinda Ríos Pérez de Velásquez and her husband began trying their keys in the door of what they believed was the home they were supposed to clean, court records say.

What is the penalty if someone posts a comment and you reply "That's discussed in the article." Asking for a friend.

I was surprised (and alarmed) but fine. I moved things around and went there a few minutes ago.

Traditional American politics is premised on the notion that sometimes you lose and sometimes you win and you have to deal with that.

But Trumpism is premised on the notion that any result where you don’t win is illegitimate, unlawful, fraud, criminal.

My heart was jubilant while reading this story this morning - more than 100 Chinook salmon have passed the former Klamath River dam sites as well as the fish ladder at Klamath Lake and are naturally spawning in Oregon headwaters for the first time in over a century! 🐟🧪🌎

Salmon clear last Klamath dams, reaching Williamson and Sprague rivers
Just a year after four dams were removed, a group of fall Chinook have migrated nearly 300 miles into the Upper Klamath Basin.

Take note of all these people turning out for protests in small towns in red states.

Remember them the next time you’re inclined to write an area off because “they voted for this.”

1000%.

A protest in a blue state is a solidarity protest. Important, noble, but the protest in Birmingham? That's fucking brave. Be proud to break bread with people that hardcore.
