Why does WNYC like to describe Mayor-elect Mamdani as a "self described Democratic Socialist?" Does being a member of DSA not make him an *actual* Democratic Socialist? Are they just trying to make him sound less legit?

Weird for a reporter to refer to Mamdani as a "self proclaimed social democrat." He belongs to DSA! If that makes him "self proclaimed" we have to refer to all politicians as self proclaimed Democrats or Republicans. For that matter, I guess that guy is a self proclaimed reporter 🙄
