And while you can shape the direction of travel genetically and socially, you can't fully control it as you're only playing as the head of your dynasty (until they die, and then you play as their heir etc. etc.)

My house has a switch in the living room that controls the fan in an upstairs bathroom?!!! It's a small fan you would only use when taking a shower/bath so I don't know why you would need to control it from downstairs.
