Like who? I can tell personally that she's a poor, often alarmist, reporter but it is very difficult to convince trans people in my life of that without an alternative to point to.

Fenway health in Boston has stopped providing gender affirming care to trans youth.

I was previously on the board of this organization and I've never been so disgusted with their leadership cowardly capitulating like this.

As usual with this issue, Harris is calling for a compromise that already exists. Every sporting body has standards for how long athletes must be on hormones before they can compete as women.

The problem isn’t that we’re ignoring ‘reasonable concerns,’ the problem is that republicans are lying.

I think it's useful to unpack this. If Democrats agree with Republicans on excluding women's sports, what's the harm? Is it primarily harm to trans women who play sports, or is there something more to it?

A reasonable person who doesn't know much about trans issues could ask these questions.

They are banning trans women from female bathrooms, dorms, locker rooms, and sports across campus. They're also cracking down on trans care for minors, though that is unlikely to be broadly impactful since it's a university.

The Independent’s solution has been to equate “biologically-female” with “assigned-female-at-birth”, but that doesn’t hold up because transitioning people’s biology changes, and so people born male may become biologically female.

Sports access fairness is one of the cornerstone successes of Title IX regulations in the United States, and this is precisely the correct framework for scrutinizing trans sports bans. They do not promote fairness and access for (cis) women. Their intent and effect are singularly to obstruct access.

At the time of the ban on trans women from women's rugby, there were only 8 trans women playing out of a few thousand women generally (proportionate to the number of women who play rugby relative to the trans population). None of them were superior rugby players.
