It’s clear who the aggressors are. Keep remaining nonviolent, and record EVERYTHING. All of these masked ICE thugs will be held accountable.

Miller and Yglesias love to say Trump won by moderating and therefore Democrats must veer right to win. Trump went HARDEST right on the very issues (immigration, race relations) that elite Republicans saw as their biggest electoral liability and on which they begged for moderation. "Experts" indeed.
Trump did what i’m suggesting not you. He went hard right on some issues and bucked the party to the middle on others (war, medicare, social security).
This has a very "2013 Republican Autopsy" aroma to it.

Gotta either find a better source of dopamine than yelling at strangers on the internet or develop some impulse control. Not looking great on either front.

Never been more proud of my alma mater. 💜
At one point, the camera turned back and you see it’s the ENTIRE class chasing that dude off, wow.

If Dems want to pivot to "kitchen table issue" in their messaging this is the one! Say he has to come to congress for a vote on the tariffs or you don't vote for government funding bill.

As others have pointed out, the idea that we can control their behavior by modeling respectability (cooperating with the compulsory grief around Kirk, for example, and not saying truthful/angry things about him) is akin to an abused person's belief that they can control the abuse by being perfect.

Fascinating survey data on the missing Biden voters by Lake Research. The voters who sat out in '24 weren't looking for a centrist or turned off by trans rights. They want a genuine economic populist agenda: take on corporate greed, lower costs, and make the wealthy pay their fair share.

To be fair, they also don't understand how science works
Billionaires are convinced AI is on the verge of making new scientific discoveries because they don't understand how AI chatbots work.

I keep saying it: The push for AI made so much more sense to me once I realized tech bros talked to it like a woman who won't talk back.
There's something about the way men use LLMs that feel like those men at the strip club who believe that the dancers like them for their personality and wit.

They just want a toy that makes them feel good.
My god these guys are such spectacular morons

the story of 2019-2024 was institutions from Silicon Valley to the police facing a modicum of accountability and radicalizing themselves into support of a leader and party who promised unaccountability
What we have here is an example of an incredibly effective political action by the police that is getting blamed on progressives by people who are looking for a reason to blame them. It's bad faith all the way down.

There is no Central Committee of Immigrants, planning protests. People are protesting with the symbols of their own community because they feel that community is under attack and want to show support for it. You cannot order them to stop this like in a strategy computer game.

sending 500 marines to a county of nearly 10 million people to stand around holding their dicks with nowhere to sleep is not actually the sign of a successful declaration of martial law
what i see is a white house whose ambitions outstrip its resources, who did not count on facing mass resistance, and which is scrambling to escalate the situation in hopes that a display of force will make people shut up

I fundamentally, profoundly disagree with this incredibly dangerous A+B take from someone who has absolutely no business pretending to be a public intellectual.

We shouldn't use polling to tell us what our values are, we should use polling to further advance the causes we value.

On "Abundance"
A very succinct way to make the point I've been struggling to make. It's a Trojan Horse for libertarians to push deregulation and anti-union measures. It's not leftist YIMBYism or progressive urbanism at all.
