The headline is purely inaccurate and so so dangerous. Those without status don't and have never qualified for HAP. Being assessed as unable to meet habitual residency condition (seemingly the core issue here) is not the same as being undocumented, or as the Mirror calls it, "illegal"

This is related to the belief a lot of people seem to have that if they are morally righteous in their politics, then they can act as assholish as they want, and their dickishness will innately be itself righteous.
There’s a lot of people on here who are like “I’m a bold truth teller” and then their bold truth is like “you suck at everything so don’t try” and “your kid is stupid so fuck you for saying you love them.”

I also think this is an inevitable result of the media-driven campaign to demonize, target and harass a minority (trans people) having succeeded; it has created an appetite for blood and many of the most eager participants are the same people.

This is so obviously a case of colonial logic and what a horror has been inflicted on this woman and child. No different than anything in North America or Aus. It’s very ‘interesting’ how many statistics about this practice are shielded from scrutiny via privacy laws.

It's simple, if you throw paint on a plane then you get proscribed and any 80 year olds defending you get arrested.
If you ask people to burn down hotels, and they try, you get an interview in the Telegraph and positive coverage in the BBC.
