I'm about studying & explaining all things Communications, Culture & Technology because that was my graduate degree. A media expert/disinformation type who will always rant about Aaron Sorkin’s impact on American politics. More Ohioan than JD. she/her.

Lifelong area resident, grew up on the Parkway corridor specifically, and this is literally the first I've heard of work vans not being allowed.

This is like when you find out there's a $10 fine for putting a goose on a leash on Sundays or some shit.
NEW—US Park Police w/ DHS officers near DC are increasingly pulling over Black and brown men, leaving their work vans on the side of the parkway + immediately calling a local towing company to take them. Families who just lost their breadwinner are stuck with the bill.

@melbuer.bsky.social reports:
Families of DC-area immigrant drivers snatched by feds stuck with tow bill
Elected officials and activists note work vehicles removed lightning fast, resulting in hundreds in fees.

A party that couldn't endorse Mamdani. . . has room for Marjorie Taylor Greene

The party can burn in hell
Raskin: We are a big tent. We must be a huge, vast tent. I say this is a party that’s got room for Marjorie Taylor Greene if she wants to come over.

A discussion sparked by a piece whose opening argument was that Larry Summers was the tragic, rational victim of a feminized woke mob
Never forget that just a week ago, Ross Douthat and the NYTimes were asking if women ruined the workplace.

Ned Fulmer & her should make a podcast about thirst & talent
The only thing I've gleaned from this is she's an exceptionally bad writer, with no real interior life and thus nothing to actually say.
Vanity Fair's West Coast Editor Olivia Nuzzi was a star political correspondent until scandal led her into exile—and to a California up in flames.

In an excerpt from her book, ‘American Canto,’ she takes stock of scorched earth.

Look, I know this weaponization of male academic interest is the oldest story in the book, but it’s just so, so pernicious. It’s awful to the women directly involved, but it’s also awful to *all* women in the academy, who have to live in its shadow all the time.

No idea if any of this is illegal but I would certainly hope that evidence he preyed on women by holding their careers hostage would make @harvard.edu reluctant to employ him in any form of contact with students. Fire him. Women told you about him back when he said we weren't smart enough.

Could argue the misogyny Summers expressed both publicly while president of Harvard and in emails to Epstein says more about the culture at our most elite institutions than any of the frontpage freakouts over academia in the past few years but hey

Just struck me: the clerkship budget can be used as a form of retirement incentive, can’t it?

All justices under the age of 65 get clerks, all those over get none. You can linger, but you’re on your own AND elite law profs no longer have an incentive to downplay your badness in op-eds.
What I first said in sarcasm I increasingly think is a real thing to consider:

Move SCOTUS to a strip mall in rural Kansas.

We can’t fire them. Impeachment* is functionally dead. The 18-yr term thing is a fantasy.

But we can kill a lot of their perks.

Bet Kav would retire fast.
Devastating piece on the human toll of Kavanaugh Stops.

Especially infuriating to know that rich white guys like Brett K can simply close their eyes to the human suffering their racist jurisprudence has unleashed.

Aside from the enormous Epstein scandal, these extrajudicial murders should bring down this administration, from Trump and Hegseth to the shooters to the aides who photocopied the orders. It’s morally and legally exhausting living through this lawless, lying, corrupt regime. #NoFascistUSA
Dems should say this right now, loudly and clearly: Anyone who is trusting Donald Trump, of all people, when he says what he’s directing you to do is lawful and that you’ll be protected later may be putting themselves in a very precarious position. 6/

For those who haven't been following the Ukraine war closely, there's a good chance Putin might be "out" because Moscow isn't going to like a "limited power" winter to live through and ending the War might seem like a way to keep the heat on.

I take comfort in the same thought about Trump.

Do you live in the Charlotte area? Know someone who does? One of the most important things you can do is get a whistle & tell your family & friends & neighbors to do the same. If people blow their whistle when they see CBP that takes away CBP’s ability to surprise vulnerable people.

His sincere updates on his attempted relationship with a student are so creepy and cringe, and then you remember the person Larry Summers is pouring his heart out to is DISGRACED CHILD SEX TRAFFICKER JEFFREY EPSTEIN, IN THE YEAR OF OUR LORD TWO THOUSAND AND EIGHTEEN
The emails have Summers reporting to Epstein about his attempts to date a Harvard economics student & to hit on her during a seminar she was giving.
